LocaRise Plus is not a tour company in the usual sense. We are a small team of people who live here.

We welcome one group a day to spend it the way you would with a friend who happens to be local: walking, talking, eating well, and following whatever catches your eye. If you are looking for a Kanazawa tour guide, you will find one in us. What you will also find is the version of Ishikawa that residents keep for themselves.

The idea behind LocaRise Plus fits in one line, and it is the line we started with: travel Japan with the people who live here. Most visitors to Kanazawa see Kenrokuen, the tea houses of Higashi Chaya and the samurai lanes of Nagamachi, and they are right to. But a region is more than its famous places. It is the culture that lives in its daily routines, the way a fishmonger talks about the morning catch, a neighborhood shrine on a festival night, a craftsman who will hand you his tools. Those are the authentic Japan experiences a guidebook cannot arrange, and they are only ever a person away.
So we built a service around the person. Come to know a place through its people, and Japan opens in a way that no itinerary, however careful, can manage on its own.
